Ballina Film Club presents...Kurosawa
During January 2010, Ballina Film Club is hosting a month-long programme of events celebrating the life and work of Akira Kurosawa, one of world cinema’s greatest directors.
Akira Kurosawa (1910-1998), was undoubtedly one of the most important filmmakers of the 20th century. During a career that spanned 50 years, he directed greater than 30 films, and is regarded by many as one of the most important and influential filmmakers in film history.
The season, begins on Tuesday January 5th with The Seven Samurai, and continues at 8pm every Tuesday throughout January with a Kurosawa classic.
The full line up for the month is:
Tuesday January 12th : The Hidden Fortress
Tuesday January 19th : Stray Dog
Tuesday January 26th : Ikiru
In addition, there will be a secondary school screening on Tuesday January 19th of his Oscar-winning, Ran.
