Arts Consultant Heather Maitland and Maeve Cooke from access CINEMA at the Theatre Forum Event in Belfast.

It’s that time of year, when the great and the good of Irish Theatre gather together to discuss the burning issues of the day at the annual Theatre Forum Conference. This year the event was held in Belfast and access>CINEMA has joined the fray.

Director of access>CINEMA Maeve Cooke, and Programme Manager David O'Mahony, hosted a short informal session during the conference on Thursday June 14th at 13.00 - 13.30 in the Lyric Theatre.

The session provided information on news and upcoming events relevant to venues with cultural film programmes as well as providing programmers with an opportunity to discuss any current concerns. At the session, access>CINEMA also provided details of a new initiative aimed at providing an increased service for venues and greater opportunities for advice and support for their film events.

This session was also open to venues that currently do not screen film but would like to receive some information on cultural cinema provision in Ireland.

In addition, during the conference, access CINEMA  offered venue managers the opportunity to avail of one-to-one surgeries. Each surgery allowed a venue manager or artistic director to assess and discuss their film programme with an access>CINEMA staff member on a one to one basis.
