Butter would n't melt...

Droichead Arts Centre in Co. Louth has an exciting new initiative, a Social Cinema Festival, running from May 21-24, and especially targeted at teenagers and young adults.

With a selection of international films on offer as well as workshops and talks the Festival celebrates the capacity of cinema to cast a critical eye on the major social, economic and cultural issues of our time.

Local filmmaker and director Darren Thornton hosts a hands on practical workshop post a screening of Charlie Chaplin’s Modern Times, Saleh Rifaie looks at the issues raised in the Irish documentary, The Pipe while Ged Nash, TD reveals how the political process works following a screening of Alexander Paynes’s Election.

Tickets for all the screenings have been subsidised and you can get the full list of what’s on from droichead.com
