Colin Firth in The King's Speech

Dunamaise Arts Centre in Portlaoise will celebrate the installation of its new D-CINEMA equipment on Friday May 27th with a Cinema Premiere Night.

The arts centre was one of the recipients of recent funding from the Cinema Digitisation Scheme - a joint initiative of the Arts Council and the Irish Film Board, funded by the Department of Tourism, Culture and Sport.

To celebrate, a double bill of two of the most successful films of 2011 thus far, will be presented using the new equipment:

The King's Speech, featuring Colin Firth's Oscar-winning performance as King George V, will kick off the proceedings at 7pm.

This will be followed at 9.45pm by Black Swan, a psychological thriller set in the world of the New York City Ballet and starring Natalie Portman who picked up Best Actress at this year's Oscars.

Cinema goers are invited to join the team at Dunamaise for a celebratory reception between the screenings.
