News from the Don Quixote Juries
Nuri Bilge Ceylan's previous film Uzak was a popular choice with access CINEMA members. His new film Climates opens in Spring 07.
The International Federation of Film Societies presents the Don Quixote Awards at a number of film festivals throughout the year. The juries, made up from film society members, have just concluded their work this year at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in Tallinn, Estonia. The main prize went to Norwegian film, Sons with Special Mentions going to Spanish film DarkBlueAlmostBlack and Turkish film Climates
Other festivals at which the IFFS was represented this autumn were Film Festival Cottbus in Germany which profiles Eastern European films. Here the winner was Taxidermia, a particularly distinctive film from Hungary while at the Molodist international Film Festival in Kiev, Ukraine the jury choice was 13 Tzameti.
The first jury of 2007 will be at the Tromsø Film Festival in Norway from January 16.
