Special preview screenings at access>CINEMA sites of Arracht in association with the Virgin Media Dublin International Film Festival

In partnership with the Virgin Media Dublin International Film Festival, and with the support of the Arts Council, we are delighted to present special preview screenings this March of the Irish-language feature Arracht at six access>CINEMA locations.

Actor and filmmaker Tom Sullivan’s feature debut is a strong, character-driven thriller set during a tumultuous period in Irish history.

Produced with support from TG4, Screen Ireland and the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) through the Cine4 scheme, Arracht had its international premiere at the Tallin Black Nights Film Festival in November 2019.

Told in the Irish language and set on the eve of The Great Hunger, Arracht (meaning Monster) tells of a fisherman who takes in a stranger on the request of a priest. Events that follow lead to tragic personal struggles, but hope may come in the form of a young girl who needs his help.

Is scéinséir láidir é an chéad fhadscannán ón aisteoir agus ón déantóir scannán Tom Sullivan, scéal atá bunaithe ar charachtair agus atá suite i dtréimhse le linn stair na hÉireann a bhí an-chorraitheach.

Arna léiriú le tacaíocht ó TG4, Fís Éireann agus Údarás Craolacháin na hÉireann (BAI) trí scéim Cine 4, taispeánadh Arracht den chéad uair ag Féile Scannán Tallin Black Nights i mí na Samhna 2019.

Is trí mheán na Gaeilge a insítear an scéal seo atá suite tamall gairid roimh an nGorta Mór, scéal iascaire é Arracht, iascaire a thugann dídean d'fhear strainséara ar ordú ó shagart. Is tragóideach ceart iad na himeachtaí a tharlaíonn ina dhiaidh sin a fhágann an fear ag troid lena intinn féin ach an dtabharfaidh cailín óg a bhfuil a chúnamh uaithi sólás éigin dó?

The Virgin Media Dublin International Film Festival brings Arracht to the Light House Cinema as part of the main festival and, in collaboration with access>CINEMA on a special tour that has been supported by the Arts Council, to six regional venues where film talent will attend the screenings.
