The Square

“… an original, visceral, uncomfortable and essential viewing experience.” Screen International

Christian is the successful but self-centred curator of a modern art museum. A few days before the opening of his new prestigious exhibition The Square, Christian is mugged and his mobile phone stolen, an action which propels him to hunt for the perpetrator. This personal search, as well as the pressures of handling a controversial PR campaign for the opening of the exhibition, plunges both the curator and his museum into crisis.

Swedish director Ruben Östlund (Force Majeure) took home the Palme d’Or at Cannes for this no-holds-barred satire of the postmodern art world, which is surreal, funny and provocative.
