Film clubs and venues across access>CINEMA’s network will be taking part in the Month of European Film, taking place between November 1 and December 9 2023.
access>CINEMA is one of the partner cinemas participating in this year’s Month of European Film, which has been launched by the European Film Academy – in partnership with Europa Cinemas – to celebrate the fantastic diversity of European film.
Following last year’s successful event, this year’s Month of European Film will last for six weeks. Participating cinemas include sites in dozens of cities from Reykjavik to Athens, from Lisbon to Bucharest, while also including small towns and cinema networks.
The six-week event will see more than 100 screenings of European films across Ireland.
There is no uniform catalogue or programme: instead, each participating cinema and film club creates a unique programme according to their expertise and catering to their audience’s taste.
European films screening across the access>CINEMA network over the six weeks include recent Irish gems such as Tarrac, Apocalypse Clown, Lola and Lakelands; family screenings of Puffin Rock and the New Friends; and a range of recent European arthouse favourites such as Close, Love According to Dalva, The Beasts, The Eight Mountains, The Night of the 12th, R.M.N., Afire and Cairo Conspiracy.
The Month of European Film kicks off on 1 November and will include the launch of the European Film Academy’s European Film Club and the European Arthouse Cinema Day. This year’s event will culminate on 9 December with the 36th European Film Awards in Berlin.
Meanwhile, partners MUBI and DAFilms will present a special focus on European films, allowing film lovers around the world to participate.
The Month of European Cinema is supported by the Creative Europe MEDIA Programme of the European Union, with partners including Europa Cinemas, CICAE, DAFilms and MUBI.
