Japanese Film Festival

Japanese Film Festival

The Japanese Film Festival is Ireland’s only truly national film festival, and currently takes place every year in April.

A collaboration between the Embassy of Japan and access>CINEMA, the aim of the festival is to bring a diverse and eclectic programme of Japanese cinema to Irish audiences.

The Festival has grown from its beginnings in 2008 when 4 films screened in 3 locations to an event in 2023 that encompasses 48 screenings of 21 films across 10 venues in 8 locations nationally.

In 2023 the Festival programme features work of the most acclaimed filmmakers from contemporary Japanese cinema, and covers a variety of themes, genres and topics.

The 2023 Festival will present screenings in Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, Waterford, Dundalk, Sligo, and Wexford.
