Film Tour of Oscar-contender Hive in partnership with the 2022 Virgin Media Dublin International Film Festival

During the 2022 Virgin Media Dublin International Film Festival, access>CINEMA will tour the highly-acclaimed Kosovan film Hive to eight locations with support from the Arts Council.

The first film ever to win all of the three big awards in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition of the Sundance Film Festival (the Audience Award, Directing Award, and Grand Jury Prize) and a strong contender for an Academy Award nomination, Hive is a searing drama based on a true story.

Fahrije, like many of the other women in her patriarchal village, struggles with fading hope following the disappearance of her husband during the Kosovan war. In order to provide for her family, she pulls the other widows in her community together to launch an independent business selling local food produce.

As the women begin to find healing and solace, their efforts are met with hostility from the local misogynists.

This special touring programme to eight regional venues. is supported by the Arts Council, in association with Altitude Films.
