“The fragile little adventurer [Marcel] can teach us something powerful about navigating obstacles with grace” The Atlantic
After a breakup, documentary filmmaker Dean moves into a rental home. There, he discovers Marcel - a tiny, one-inch-tall talking shell who lives with his grandmother Nana Connie. After one of Dean’s video clips of Marcel goes viral online, the little shell becomes an unlikely celebrity. However, Marcel only has one wish - to finally be reunited with the rest of his family and friends, all of whom were taken away by the house’s former owners.
Using a memorable mix of mockumentary-style live-action film and stop-motion animation, Marcel is a rare film with that will appeal to children and adults alike. It’s hard not to be charmed by the adorable Marcel, and there’s a surprisingly rich emotional core to this clever, kind-hearted film.
