access>CINEMA comprises a team of people whose experience and expertise includes film programming and curation, audience development, film projection and technical support, film distribution, copywriting, national touring, networking and promotion, strategic development, research, and financial and business management.

access>CINEMA is a company limited by guarantee and is a Registered Charity with the Revenue Commissioners and the Charity Regulator.The organisation is governed by a voluntary Board of Directors.

It is the organisation’s policy to comply with all relevant statutory and regulatory requirements and at all times to adhere to best business practice in all of its operations.

The organisation is committed to the implementation of good governance and has commenced the process to meet the regulatory requirements of the Code of Governance.

access>CINEMA also complies with the Governance Transparency Scale required for organisations in receipt of Arts Council.

Strategic Plan

access>CINEMA’s current Strategic Plan covers the 5-year period 2023 to 2027.

This plan aims to ensure that our work is truly inclusive and will help secure the future of a vibrant film culture across Ireland.

Financial statements

access>CINEMA keeps detailed and up to date financial records and is transparent in its audited financial statements.

In order to follow best practice in relation to accounting and reporting, access>CINEMA has adopted Charities SORP.

SORP – the Statement of Recommended Practice, Accounting and Reporting by Charities (2005) was developed in accordance with Accounting Standards Board guidelines, by the Charity Commission for England and Wales, and by the Scottish Regulator. Whilst it has no jurisdiction outside the UK, access>CINEMA has adopted this system which is seen as prudent and provides best practice in respect of accounting and reporting.

Europa Cinemas Charters

As a member of the Europa Cinemas network, access>CINEMA is committed to the Gender Balance, Diversity and Inclusion Charter and the Green & Sustainability Strategy Charter delivered by Europa Cinemas in 2022.

Cultural Cinema Partnership

access>CINEMA, along with the four other Arts Council funded organisations – Cork International Film Festival, Dublin International Film Festival, Galway Film Fleadh and Irish Film Institute – established the Cultural Cinema Partnership (CCP) in 2023.

In 2023, the Cultural Cinema Partnership published its Digital Reporting Charter, and in 2024 published its first film charter (see documents below).

In 2025 the CCP members will work together to address key sectoral issues including: staff retention, infrastructural gaps, audience development strategies and ongoing concerns around accessibility.

Through active engagement with the Arts Council and the CCP’s own international network of experts, it is hoped that case studies of best practice might assist with a new film policy.

Digital Reporting Charter (delivered in 2023)

As a member of the Cultural Cinema Partnership, access>CINEMA is committed to the Digital Reporting Charter, which agrees a central reporting framework that the five Cultural Cinema Partnership members will use to report on digital activities.
